I am a male 8th grade English teacher and for our winter sports pep rally they asked about 5 of the teachers to perform a skit with the 7th and 8th grade cheerleaders. Its supposed to be in fun but part of the skit is to lift the cheerleader up high. This might sound crazy but I am a little uncomfortable putting my hand on a 13 year old cheerleaders butt. I know she will be wearing panties underneath but still. Is this a little weird or am I out of line thinking its weird

I agree with you. In the type of world we live in if you were to touch a girl in such a manner it could easily be misconstrued. Also - if she were to fall and get hurt you could be held liable, especially given the fact that unless you were a cheerleader back in the day, you may not support her properly. Tell them that you will still do the skit but you do not feel comfortable being part of the human pyramid.

You know what u answer you on question.Their are so many petiflier out in the world today,I suggest you not put yourself into that position as being label as one.If though the girls and maybe everybody at the school see it different. This world is crazy now and society as a whole make think out of something when in deed it nothing. Sorry if i spell it wrong but u get my drift.

No you are not out of line and I admire your concern since there is so much talk of abuse by teachers (especially the male teachers although women teachers are at fault just as much. . . .just does not get talked about as much). I would recommend to you that you speak to the principal and or school board regarding the appropriateness of this skit and see if you can just do what you agreed to do and that was dance.

i agree. it is weird. if the student felt uncomfortable w/ u touching her, she might tell her parents and they might press charges against u for touching her.

Uh, yeah, that might be inappropriate, honestly.
I would do it on one hand, but people might get to thinking things and that could jeopardize your job. So I wouldn't do it, if It were me.
