am trying to get rid of a scrap wood pile and would like to post a message on a free website...don't want a lawsuit...ie...spider or snake bite, wood falls on top of them, etc.

Go to freecycle.com and you should be able to find a group near you that recycles items.

Sorry, the reality is that there is no way to be invulnerable to a possible lawsuit. The possibilities go up when you have 'invited' a stranger onto your property and they go way up if there is a dangerous condition that you knew about, and did not disclose, warn or guard against, that results in an injury or loss.
