I suspect our descendants will be intelligent machines. What the old-time sci-fi writers would have called "robots."

The coming convergence of nano-tech, robotics and genetic engineering will very likely result in a hybrid thinking being whose ability to adapt to changes in the environment will quickly outstrip that of humans.

It's a bit misleading a chart an apparent "progression" from fishes to amphibians, etc., as if one group evolved from the previous.

Yes, amphibians evolved from fish, and reptiles evolved from amphibians, but mammals did NOT evolve from birds. Mammals and birds both evolved from reptiles (first mammals, at around the beginning of the Mesozoic, and then birds at the end of the Mesozoic).
