I've been in love with a close friend for ages and it's such a dilemma. You don't want to ruin the friendship but what if????? I'm playing the cowards way and accepting happiness that she's still, and probably always will be, a very close friend.

Yes, my friend and I were secretly in love with each other for a while and one night it all came flooding out and we told each other how we felt... now we are having the most amazing relationship ever and life couldn't be any better. I think it helped that we were friends first, by the time we got together, we knew so much about one another that we skipped that awkward stage when you might find little things about them that may annoy you. Luckily for us, there isn't any but that could change your view on them as boyfriend/girlfriend material in the long run. Also, sometimes the IDEA of having something more with a friend is more appealing than actually having it happen, so be careful that you don't ruin a good friendship.

Oh yeah. I stood by as he dated other women, went out with him to help him get his mind off the women that dumped him, we took vacations together, etc. It didn't ever evolve into anything BUT when I met the man I was going to marry, he told me he regretted not being more than friends. Timing is everything and his really sucked.

Yes. I'm there now. I hinted around a little I could tell he's not on the same page so I left it alone. I'd rather have the friendship.

Always a tricky one, gain a lover, or lose a friend. What does one do?

Go for it and hope for the best, then you'll know one way or the other. Unrequited love is no fun.

Yes! And he is married and so am I so I cannot act on this (unfortunately)! What do you do? You are forced to be around them all of the time. It just really makes it hard.
