I was severely injured 10 years ago, and have been through countless procedures therapy and surgery. I had my final surgery 7 months ago, that left me with a back full of screws, rods and cages. The Doc bumped my sciatic nerve, and I was left with no feeling and limited use of my left leg. I understood the risks of the surgery, and I am not going to sue. These things just happen sometimes, and not anyone's fault. I am able to walk with a cane, but when employers see this, they suddenly decide that the job has already been filled. I know some people are happy to sit home and collect a paycheck, but that is not me. I've always enjoyed working, and my usual jobs were construction and warehouse. I've been using the paper and monster.com constantly for 2 months now, and nothing. I also recently enrolled in online college to get my degree in information systems technology. Can anyone else think of something I've missed? Any information will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.

Sorry to hear of your situation Mark. You can go to the Social Securtiy website and they have a program called Ticket To Work that will helps disabled people find a job to subsidize thier income. Also they can help you with getting information on possible employers. The link I post will take you directly to their site on this information. Hope this helps in some way. Good luck.

Im not sure where you are from but you might check into a Sheltered Workshop in your community. They employee mentally and disabled handicapped individuals. You will be able to work and draw your disabliilty, b/c the employees get paid a special wage based on their performance. I work in the office of a sheltered workshop in Missouri. I hope i helped you with your question.

You might check and see if there is a league of human dignity in your area they help advocate for the disabled and will help you find work . It is illegal to discriminate against a person with dis abilities and if you think that someone has you should contact the EEOC(equal employment opportunity commission).

Why don't you check with your state Government for employment resources for disabled people. They are usually a worth of knowledge. Check out your state's web site which is usually the state's two letter abbreviation and dot gov for more information.

Contact your vocational rehabilitation department. Ask the operator for the number. It will be listed under government offices. Also your social security admin offices can hook you up with resources and help you obtain a job that is suitable for you. Good luck.
