i have a car with a chevy 350 v8 in it. it's not my daily driver, and i kind of want to put a more powerful engine into it, so lately, i've been seeing just what the old 350 can take. Today, I drove 4 miles down the straight highway with the gas floored, all the way. Then, when there was no traffic, i stopped in place, held the brake down as far as i could, and floored the gas. i pretty much burnt the right tire off the rim. Then, when i got home, i sat in the driveway revving the engine to 6,000 rpms, and then put it in drive, put the E-brake on completely, held the normal brake down as far as i could, and floored the gas. it stayed right at 1,500 rpms and it sounded like it was under a HUGE load. the tires weren't spinning or anything. Keep in mind, i don't want to blow up this engine by draining the oil, just running the hell out of it. How hard was i on this engine today?

well, i just checked it, the torque converter is fine. Seems to be running as good as ever. I think i'll stop running the crap out of it for now. after all, i did want to take it to the race track this summer : ). so anyway, if anyone has any tips on beefing up this motor, do tell. it's already kinda fast. it runs a 16.2 quarter mile with a TH350 trans, and a 2.92 rear end gear(this explains the slow track time)
