I gave a young girl with a baby $10 (it was all I had on me at the time). I expected nothing in return, but I got something anyway. I got the satisfaction of knowing I had helped someone in need.

I gave the guy in line in front of me a dollar because he was 70 cents short of getting someone flowers.

I saw a person sitting by himself at the bar, looking around and kinda lonely, so I bough him a beer and invited him to sit with all my friends

I am helping a friend with his homework for.. well, for no damn reason.

And that's just this week. I think most people are really caring, giving people most the time, but we tend to focus on the negative.

After my father passed away we found out that my mother would no longer be getting his military retirement.

We (my husband and I ) had to move her out of their two story home that they lived in for 25 years and relocate her into my sister's home (next door) which was a small two bedroom cottage like home. It was exhausting going through everything, getting ready for a yard sale, moving, cleaning, preparing the old house for market.

It was done because we cared.

Another is the love and direction I give my son each and every day. The love I give my husband every day. Love period!

i do that all the time, i give food to the homeless, i donate blood, i buy girl scout cookies for the troops overseas (they protect us so i do actually get something back) i offer assistance to people carrying packages, that look lost, etc etc. we need to do what we can to help one another out of a simple desire to be a better person not for a return.

Sorry - you just made me realize I am selfish. I always give but I always expect something in return. Got to work on that I guess.
