The major benefit of media in free democracies is the communication of accurate information to the people- without it a person could find himself ignorant about a great many things.

The downside of media is when authoritarian regimes control the media content and decides what information the people should be allowed to have or use the state-run media to propagate a negative theme such as ethnic cleansing.

Dangers: 1- Cutting the countries between countries rich in media and informations, and rich countries. Thus a tech. Gap is widening.

The mainstream media has an agenda to further the liberal agenda . Generations past relied on media for information , simply because it was there and it was all they had . I remember reading something from the newspaper to my grandmother when I was 12 years old - and telling her that was ridiculous and could not be true . Her reply was , " they couldn't print it if it wasn't true " . All I can say is we've come a long way , baby .
Not only does the biased liberal media bend truth-they make it up in many cases-as evident during the last election , by a major news anchor who fabricated a story on G.W.Bush & quit his job .
The dangers are-people tend to trust "news" . People then vote for a lie;repuations are lost; freedoms are compromised .The media can effect war;peace;life & liberty .
