Being a felon, if the application never asked about any convictions and they never did a background check prior to employment? Also, never gave them a reason to doubt work skill or security....And if they do fire a person for that reason doesn't it fall under some kind of law or a claim for unemployment?

Being a store manager myself, I don't think they can fire you for being a felon. Most employers ask about your criminal background directly on the application, plus do background checks. For example, the applications for my store have a section specifically for criminal history which states that having a felony on your record will not affect our decision to hire someone. If the application didn't ask about your criminal background nor did the interviewer, then I don't think you have anything to worry about. If you're concerned about it, you should simply ask your employer about it.

If you are in a right to work state that allows "at will" employment, you can be fired with or without cause. Regardless, you will be eligible for unemployment compensation provided you have worked for the employer for the minimum required time, (usually two months or more) and were not fired for cause. Unless you lied on an application, past indiscretions will probably not stand as sufficient cause for termination.

In most cases, what I am about to write is true. There are some specific exceptions - like working in a unionized workplace or for some government agencies.
Unless you are covered by some kind of collective bargaining agreement preventing such things or arranged a provision prohibiting this during your hiring, you could be fired for any reason at any time. You can also quit for any reason at any time.

that would be a first in regards to that question not being on an application. But I would talk to the unemployment office, they would better be able to help you in this situation.

You can claim UE if they fore you. If they did not ask or do a background check before hiring you, then it's their own fault. They cant fire you for it. Only if they asked verbally or in writing and you lied about it.

In most states, they can fire you for any reason they want to... I'm not sure if they can deny your unemployment though...

If you are considered an "at will" employee, they can fire you for parting your hair on the wrong side.
