No he doesn't ..the council owns the property and they will have a waiting list of people wanting to move in to a house.You have no legal right to say who will live there after your death.

I think he can only take on the tenancy if he lives there.
A lot of Councils are wary of people trying to pass on tenancies because of house buying scams, i.e person lives in Council house, buys it under right to buy, sells it, moves in with parents, tries to get back on waiting list for another council house.

No the Council will not allow that when my mum died my sister was not allowed to take over the house she lived with my Mum but they said no when she tried to take the tenancy over

not if he has not got his name on the rent card go to the council and get his name put on the card if you havent done so already . but im not sure where you stand if he already has a property best get it checked out by the council good luck .

he would have to be living with you for at least a year before he could be considered to take over the tenancy. check with your local council. i know that in my area tenancies are allowed to be passed down once.

He would only have a right if he lived with you. He obviously does not need the home on your death as he has a home of his own.

not unless he lives there and is registered with the council as living there. we wanted my brother to have my mums house after she died , we even got our MP involved but he wasnt registered as living there so we had no chance.
