I canceled my service with sprint because they were over charging me too...I didn't pay my bill until they canceled my service and turned off my phone. So when they turned off my phone I called and they wanted the $200 but I told them that I didn't cancel my service that they did, so I told them that I would pay the over due balance but not the $200...and because I was paying what was past due they didn't even charge me the $200. Nothing ever went on my credit and nothing but what I authorized was ever put on my credit card.

Cancel and worry about the fees later.
get you a new phone and service and wait for the collection agency letters from Sprint for the $200.
I never got any.

just refuse to pay...they will eventually turn you over to a collection agency. But the collection agency will sooner or later send you a letter and ask you to settle...i owed sprint 408 because of their ridiculous over charges and cancellation fee...but after i dealt with the agency i ended up paying almost less than half. It does show up on your credit for a while though...however it's not as bad as not paying at all

Hello, unfortunately you will have to manage and ride the service until the contract is over. It isn't wise to break the contract no matter how frustrated you are (they will put it on your credit). Your signature is on the contract agreeing to their terms so in a court of law they are covered.
However, right before your contract ends switch cell phone services and take your number with you. In the future check out the Better Business Bureau website first before doing business with any merchant.
If you are so fed up that you want to terminate the service after reading the above then go to the Better Business Bureau website contact the correct parties report "sprint", and get out of the contract without them putting it on your credit record.
Good luck I hope things work out in your favor.
I did business with a merchant (Dish Network) and to get out of their so called contract I had to get the Better Business Bureau on their tail in order to get any results; it took a little more than 3 months but it was worth it in the end, and nothing was put on my credit report!

I had sprint and in my case, it was cheaper to pay the $200 termination fee and have peace of mind.

I think you're stuck.
I think the only one who can help you is some consumer advocate.
Look at www.clarkhoward.com
Your local ABC tv station may have one too.
If you can get one of these folks to make a public stink about it, they will cancel.
Next time, buy an unlocked phone:

As far as I am aware there is no way. You have to find some way where Sprint have violated the agreement in order to nullify the contract....
