My 3 year old has a horrible ear wax problem. Both ears are often so packed that the doc can't see his ear drum, and now it seems to be affecting his hearing. Is there any over the counter drops or home remedy to help dissolve the wax? Obviously I don't want to stick anything in there...

I'm a nurse. Yes it's called debrox, it's OTC and use as directed. You can also purchase a ear wax removal system to flush the wax out. Take care.

Debrox sold over the counter works well for this problem. I am a nurse and we see this often in the ER I work in. The MD's recommend this often for wax removal as well as the pediatrician that I take my own children to. (My son had this when he was younger). It works well. Good luck.

Yes, they have specific products for this problem at your local pharmacy, but since your son is young you should talk to your pharmacist before using anything on him. Tell your pharmacist what the problem is and he will be able to help. Phamacists are great because they will take the time to discuss treatment options with you. (Sometimes doctors are in too much of a rush to really help you.) Good luck!
