Did they ever go away. A surf in the 1400's and a factory worker today has about the same life. True present lives better but we all serve a master. Insurance companies, bank, and the goverment.
Why do you think we have a two party goverment? In monarchies a king would basically piss so many people off that the people rebell and killed the king. With the two party system we don't know who to blame hence no revoultion!

If you look to England as an example, I'd say absolutely not! The royal family is an embarrassment and a big drag on the English economy. They ought to tell the queen and her derelict family to get jobs and support themselves! What a sad example for their British subjects, but a good laugh for everyone else.

hmm.... that's a good question... i don't think so because right now, almost every country is democratic... i think democracy will emerge on countries that are communist.... that's my opinion....
