Normal.
First comes ovulation (which is typically unnoticeable aside from a mild cramp or two), then your uterus starts building up a nutrient lining for the egg to latch onto (like the white around the yolk in a bird's egg). When your body fails to become pregnant, that lining breaks down and comes out on your pads or tampons and the patches can be small like the end of a pencil eraser or infuriatingly large like a first-class stamp :(
That's an over-simplification, but it's essentially what's happening. If you've only been having your period for a year or two, this is going to be typical. However... if you're a grown woman and have reason to suspect that you may be having a miscarriage, please do yourself a favor and go to the doctor!

A 'blood clot' can be any size, and it is usually 'darker' than the 'fluid blood' around it ... and most women have 'blood clots' during every period, and that is 'totally normal' ... if you are having a 'miscarriage' there should be 'bad cramps' and they could be 'constant' or come in 'waves' similar to labor. There's both a lot more 'fluid blood' and far more 'clots' than normal ... and yes, a blood clot is 'gooey' when it comes out of your body, and that 'gooeyness' is just a 'symptom' of it being a 'blood clot' ... and the 'clots' happen when a woman 'sheds the blood' that would make a placenta if she gets pregnant, and it actually 'clots' between periods 'in case' ... it's TOTALLY NORMAL.

A blood clot is a large clot of blood, usually the size of a dime or nickle. They are normal unless they are larger then half dollars, then there could be a problem.

A blood clot cant form in your period. In fact, blood clots are so small that you cant see them at all unless you have special equipment. A blood clot usually hits 1of 3 places. Your legs, heart or lungs. If it hits your heart or lungs it can be fatal. If it starts in your legs, if can move up to your lungs or heart, but ususally doctors will put you on Coumadin to take care of that. If your getting gobs of stuff in your period its probably just extra big bits of cervical lining and its nothing to worry about.

no it dosen't mean a miscarriage. it happenes to me all the time. i have 5 healthy kids to back up that statement. it's ver dark red and is thick and gooey. it's from your uterius having built it up, and then it discharges into a clot. but, if you are worried call your doctor, or go to planned parenthood.
