Should I dance with the cheerleaders?
I am a male 8th grade English teacher and for our winter sports pep rally they asked about 5 of the teachers to perform a skit with the 7th and 8th grade cheerleaders. Its supposed to be in fun but part of the skit is to lift the cheerleader up high. This might sound crazy but I am a little uncomfortable putting my hand on this cheerleaders butt. I know she will be wearing shorts underneath but still. Is this a little weird or am I out of line thinking its weird?

No. I agree with you. I'd leave the lifting to the other cheerleaders to do. Anytime you feel the least bit uncomfortable with a situation dealing with a student.. TRUST YOUR GUT INSTINCT! It's far better to error on the conservative side then the other way around.
You can still perform in the skit... I'd just leave the contact you are obviously uncomfortable with out of YOUR part of the participation. Stick with things you KNOW are appropriate and beyond reproach!

It doesn't really matter whether it's 'out of line' for you to think it's 'weird' ... but I think that if you really do think it's 'weird' then 'dancing with the cheerleaders' is something you should NOT do, and you might also consider 'talking about this among the teachers' and the group of you can decide whether this 'action' would be 'appropriate' and give the students the 'right idea of good behavior' or the 'wrong idea.'

my opinion would be to skip this one because of all the sexual harassments these days i wouldnt take a chance especially you being a school teacher you never know what could come out of a childs mouth. Even thou you wont be doing anything wrong.

no this isnt weird.this sounds to me that you are a good men and a good teacher too.im sure it will be fun but if you dont want just dont go.but for my oppinion you should go .you mustnt be affraid of this.just do your dancing and try to indulge yourself.good luck

Yuck, cheerleading is horrible anyway. I don't think you want to be within a mile of this!

It's only weird that you don't want to touch their butts. Better for you to get started young, kid. Who knows where one butt-grab might lead you. You might even score with one of them. Then you'll be the envy of all your friends, who probably haven't hooked up with any chicks yet. Go for it, young buck!!
