I am a male 8th grade English teacher and for our winter sports pep rally they asked about 5 of the teachers to perform a skit with the 7th and 8th grade cheerleaders. Its supposed to be in fun but part of the skit is to lift the cheerleader up high. This might sound crazy but I am a little uncomfortable putting my hand on this cheerleaders butt. I know she will be wearing shorts underneath but still. Is this a little weird or am I out of line thinking its weird?

If you feel uncomfortable doing something, don't do it.
You'll just regret it one day later anyway when the girl says you touched her butt in a weird way or something.

With all the controversy going on with teachers and students nowadays, I would ask them to choose another teacher or another skit. It may not have anything to do with you, but it's the idea and image which this portrays to other students. Then those students tell their parents and their parents tell their friends. Words will get around. As it gets around, it will get twisted and the next thing you'll know....you are in front of the schoolboard explaining your actions of having your hand up and inside a cheerleader.....as charged by a board member.

I would sway on the side of caution. I sub teach myself and as much as words always get twisted by kids.....I always have to watch my step. Male teachers are under the microscope more so than anyone else. This is especially true in small conservative towns in the heart of the Bible belt.

Good luck

Well, these days you have to protect yourself, and the fact is, we're living in more repressive times than the Victorian age, because you can be fired or arrested, if one of these girls merely "thinks" that "maybe" you "might have" done something innapropriate.
"Zero tolerance" = "guilty without even a chance to prove your innocence".

What happens, for instance, if you slightly lose your balance, she slips a bit, or your hand slips a bit, etc., and you grab something more "interesting" than her butt?

Proof of your lecherous intentions is not required these days. If she felt uncomfortable, then you are Guilty.

I'd opt out if I were you.
It should be OK, and perfectly innocent fun, but these are crazy times we live in.
Of course, if the sexes were reversed, it would be no problem, because of the huge double standard.
Have you noticed that virually none of the female teachers caught having sex with males students have gone to prison, whereas when the sexes are reversed, the guy gets like 10-20 years?
I have.

I don't think that it is a little weird, you have valid concerns. With all of the news reports about Teachers and Students, I would feel uncomfortable too. If you are still interested in participating you could go to the cheerleading coach and explain your concerns and let them you still want to be involved, but in another capacity.

I'm not uncomfortable putting my hand on a cheerleaders butt :) I love the idea, nice and firm but chunky

Really, just chill out, you wont be doing any crazy things like lifting them in the air, you don't have experience so yeah next topic.

i could genuinely say do no longer do it. there's a reason it rather is making you uncomfortable. i don't be responsive to why they could ask a instructor to step over the line, i presumed it replaced right into a strict rule that we've been on no account meant to touch scholars like that. you look like a marvelous guy, for the reason that it rather is bothering you, and that i'm valuable you may on no account do something irrelevant, yet think of roughly what could happen if between the girls stated you probably did. your finished existence could desire to be ruined. i could question the full rally, talk on your supervisor... whose thought replaced into this??

I raised my son up to give a smooch to a wooden raccoon atop a play structure at the mall. After bringing him down, a boy and his little sister came up to me and the boy said his sister wanted to be lifted up to the raccoon too and asked if I could lift her. I had to decline.

It's something you could easily get in heat over even though it wasn't your idea. I would decline. Speak with your principal if you want some help with an excuse, such as school policy.

I would feel uncomfortable with everything that is happening theses days. Who knows, they may accuse you of something. I just found out the other day that my old HS math teacher was arrested for child porn and the girl was in his class. If you're uncomfortable then don't do it.

You could say you have a bad back, shoulder, arm, etc. if you are uncomfortable with it. I don't think the kids should be directing the skit.
