I was ice skating at times square the other day when some young fellow fell and another younger gentleman belted out "Sooooo Obnoxious." What does that mean?

Is it some sort of ice skating term?

It isn't a skating term.

It's like saying "so rude."

Which, of course, is a stupid thing to say because the person who fell did not fall intentionally; and since it was not intentional, the fall was not rude. On the other hand, if someone made the young man fall, that WOULD be obnoxious.

Perhaps you were mistaken about what the speaker was referring to?

Though maybe not. Insecure teenagers frequently say rude things for no purpose that anyone else can discern. (Probably to bolster their own egos.)

The word "obnoxious" normally means an annoying show-off; at least that is the dictionary definition.

It may be a slang expression used by young people because it was a line in some recent movie or something, but I wouldn't know.

The actual meaning of obnoxious is highly arrogant/haughty/proud.

I guess he used it as some sorta slang.

I think the comment was aimed at the haughty skater, who flew past knocking the man over, he was probably a better skater and the other guys were jealous!
