What should I be cautious in this transfer?

that they dont represent you well
talk to them to make sure they are 100% informed about the case

This is not unusual. It happens in other Professions. You should meet with your new Lawyer and get a feel as to whether or not you think they are interested in you and your problem, and whether or not you feel comfortable with the new Lawyer. The one question I would ask however is "Are you going to represent me or someone else on Staff?" I ask that because years ago, I had a lawsuit going with a very prestigious Law firm. Gradually, the Sr. Lawyer kept passing the buck to a much younger Staff member who was a recent graduate form Law School. It was done so smoothly and with all kinds of reassurances that I went along with them. It cost me a lot of money when it came to settle the case.

It's no different than a retiring doctor turning over his case load to a colleague. If you're uncomfortable, check him out with the local bar association.
