It is probably a old wive's tale, but in my case it did turn out true. Coincidence? I don't know. I never had heartburn befor or since my pregnancy but during my pregnancy I had terrible heartburn every night, it was so terrible it even kept me awake. My daughter was born with a lot of beautiful dark hair. The hair didn't fall out like everyone said it would, either.

PS... Yay!!! My baby will be going to Harvard Law School!!!

Well it is an old wives tale.. but it was true for me. Some of the people on here.. just want to slap with their rudes comments.. and what does sex ed have to do with heartburn and hair.. and smoshing your lungs.. the uterus is not that far up.. I just love all these crazy comments.
Anyway.. my 1st son had a head full of black hair when he was born and I had some serious heartburn.. having alot of heartburn with this one as well and we'll just have to see if the old tale will come true again. Good Luck.

No this is not true. Getting heartburn while pregnant just means you have to much acid being produced by your hormones. You really should check with your doctor if you are having a lot of heartburn. It could mean stomach problems in the future.

I had horrible heartburn with my first born and she had a full head of hair. With my second, I didn't have a lot of heartburn and she didn't have much hair. I am currently expecting my 3rd child and I have heartburn 24/7, so I guess I will have to wait and see. If its ture this child will have long red curly hair. Like its daddy. But it really has to do with genetics.

It has actually recently been proven that heartburn can have some relationship with your baby having hair. The chicago tribune just did an article on it.

High levels of estrogen and other hormones relax the esophagus and cause heartburn. those same hormones have been proven to influence fetal hair growth!
