people are sooooo stupid (not you the other answerers) it is chromatin. it is in this state between cell division when it enters mitosis or meiosis to divide it coils into chromosome and then the sister chromatids are pulled apart during anaphase (anaphase 2 in meiosis) . Its Chromatin. Chromosomes are "organized" strands that exists during cell division. Chromatid is singular, whereas chromosomes is plural. spindles are just structures that direct cell division in some cells.
