The journey of life proceeds from a state of "not knowing" toward a state of "knowing". One might say, toward enligtenment. The experience of life without learning is not "death in disguise" it is just plain death.

Isn't this the dissatisfied Socrates/satisfied pig debate?
Socrates claimed the unexamined life was not worth living, but while the majority who have wtitten and thought seem to have agreed with this, there is a counter-strand, which notes that "he who increases wisdom increases sorrow" (Ecclesiastes)
George Eliot observed that "the life too closely examined may be unliveable."
Less classically, it's there in Terry Pratchett's "knurd" (the intolerable state of being so sober you see the world as it actually is, with no illusions) and Douglas Adams' "Total Perspective Vortex", (which shows people the entire universe, and their insignificant place in it, thus destroying their minds).
Can most people handle knowledge? If you choose knowledge, be prepared for it to show you things that do not please you. Is it suprising that some choose to "crowd the house of mirth, and haunt the gaudy show,"
rather than risk a wisdom that is less cheerful?
Nicholson and Cruise, "A Few Good Men"
"What do you want?"
"I want the truth."
"You can't handle the truth!"

I suppose so, because knowledge is the key to all the other human powers in the world; so, if we consider that knowledge is everything, then one without knowledge is one without anything; therefore it is death in disguise, even if this person is alive, he's like "inactive"
**Personal Opinion: I love knowledge and I always want to learn more things and know more...!

i wouldn't say it is death in disguise, but it certainly points toward an almost meaningless existence. i feel like dollar chasers are essentially (not to sound entirely cliche) drones. they lost the big picture on the point of life, which is, as what my experiences thus far have indicated, to be happy, experience, and enjoy. knowledge greatly facilitates this. the great thing about knowledge is that it can benefit the learner and the audience of the learner. i feel like life without knowledge is symbolized by television. nothing destroys the intellect like prime time, thought-inhibiting programming, the kind that puts everything on the table and leaves nothing to stimulate the intellect. also, money is not the most important in the world to the individual (all though that is what we are trained to believe). as they say, money cannot buy happiness. but i will say in defense of money that, while it cannot buy you happiness, it can buy you happy memories. you can lose every penny you have, but nothing can take away the memories that money facilitated. tan(complete)

i would suppose that Death would be inevitable without the basic instinct of survival. One must know how to eat, defend and procreate or mankind will end up going down the tubes. Even mammals of other species know this. It is why the lion watches his pride, the fox watches his den, the squirrel collects his/her acorns. Knowledge of how to do these simple chores would of course make them susceptible to death.

I don't think so. Many stupid people are pretty happy. It depends on if you really like knowledge or just enjoy the simple things in life.
