I used to feel that way too. In my family, birthdays were really played down. Mostly because my dad was a cheapskate. In my wife's family, birthdays are the biggest celebration. It took me awhile to come around to this type of thinking. Her logic is that it is the only day that you have dedicated to just yourself. If you believe being alive is a good thing then go ahead and celebrate, what the heck, it never hurts to have a little fun!

I don't think celebrating a birthday is childish at all. Keep in mind that celebrating doesn't necessarily mean having a party! You're celebrating another year in your lifetime that many people don't get to see! Now, you don't have to celebrate, but celebrating is a way of showing appreciation for being blessed to see another year of your life!!

I am 30 years old and LOVE celebrating my birthday! With all of the days I spend working and being an adult, I enjoy a day about me! Why not enjoy some cake, get some gifts and pamper yourself? It's a celebration of another year alive... what could be better than that!!

I think you are probably just trying to escape Birthday celebrations because you don't want to acknowledge you're aging. Every holiday is pretty much a random day. I think you should stop worrying about whether or not its childish and just enjoy some cake.

If you don't want to celebrate, then don't. Lots of people like to celebrate their birthdays. Also family and friends like to celebrate the birthdays of their loved ones to show them that they care about them.
I personally love to celebrate the birthdays of others and I like to do special stuff on my birthday too.

I don't agree. I have thought this through once before. I feel that our birthday's are for others (the people who love us). They celebrate the fact that you have blessed them by being in their life. It may seem childish to you, but to someone who loves you......but to another, "thank you for this wonderful person coming into this world to share with me"
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I think children have a lot of fun. There is no reason to give up something fun just because kids enjoy it.
I never need a reason to celebrate, just an excuse!
