It's a finite resource.
North Americans 'grew up' with plentiful cheap resources, and the only reason to conserve was limited by the monthly budget.
It's time to do things differently.
What ever happened to Chevy Geos and Honda CRXs (both got over 50 mpg) and only cost about $10-11K ?

Im sorry, dont have a website, but I do have a very smart science teacher. We should conserve fossil fuels because they are considered non-renewable resources. They really are renewable, but it just takes millions of years, and we dont really have that kind of time. So, once we run out of oil, we cant just go and create or grow our own, we have to wait millions of years for the pressure of the earth to crush down on old, burried plants and wait for it to turn it into some oil. We should also conserve because of global warming, I dont know if you believe in global warming, but i think it is pretty evident that fossil fuels are causing it.

No reason to conserve unless we think it is worthwhile to leave something for future generations.
We have been relying ever more heavily on fossil fuels for about 150 years. One-half of them are used up. If we don't care about what comes after our life time, we should use however much we want.
