There not ready to sign big name free agents yet. They should go after one solid free agent either a linebacker or an O-lineman, then draft either Ginn Jr. or Dwayne Jarret which ever is available. Use this year as another year for Smith to develope, then next year try to sign a big name free agent and impact player. If Smith plays better they will compete for a playoff spot, but what will it mean since the NFC is down and they'll just get smoked anyways. They need a few players that will make a difference and make plays on both sides of the ball. A good draft is critical. Basically they took some really bad beatings last year, to Philly, Chicago, Skins, Packers, I mean they were literally blown out. But I'm not sure if it was entirely the fault of the defense since the O has trouble sustaining drives and using clock. Teams are'nt respecting the vertical passing game yet. All us 49er fans know Gore is the man, we now need to go down the field and keeping the D fresh.

49ers are doing it the right way. Thats said they are still probably a year away from being a playoff team. And Alex smith is started to show some improvement last year. To give up on him after only 2 season is ridiculous. He is going on his 3rd year now, and if the 49ers can get him some weapons to play catch with he might be able to take that next step this and make drastic improvements this upcoming season, especially with the emmergence of Gore. The defense is also getting better but they need to improve the secondary, adding a corner like nate clement would be a huge improvement but not sure if they are gonna be able to land him. Playoffs probably wont happen this upcoming season but there some light shining from the end of the tunnel.

Well, I'm a Niners' fan myself. Alex Smith isn't the greatest QB, but he doesn't have the best talent around him. They really need a better offensive line to protect Smith and open some holes for Frank Gore. Gore can be a monster if he gets better blocking, which will only open it up for the passing game. They have a great TE in Vernon and some good receivers. Their secondary is young and small as far as secondaries go. They may need to make a move and get a impact player in the secondary or think about changing their defensive scheme to more of a zone concept to protect the def. backs.

we need some good lb's, secondary guys and better defensive linemen. Offensively, they are alright. This is will be Alex Smith's breakthrough season. Good thing they got rid of Antonio Bryant, this guy has alwayz been a troublemaker. We don't ever need that to gain attention. Niners have alwayz earned their attention winning SUPER BOWLS. So just be patient buddy. This will be a promising year. And oh yeah are we making it to the playoffs. Who knows, it might be that far to Super Sunday. So stay tune!!!

they have the most cap room this year, so signing nate clements and adalius thomas would be ideal. i think signing joe horn would be a good acquistion as well. if they cant get thomas, maybe they can snag joey porter.
they definitely need to address the offensive line issues. i think if they improve on the o-line, sign and draft some good defensive players, and add a WR or 2, they should improve drastically.
good luck and go dolphins!
