Because the truth stands for something. And when you stand for something it's worth a fight. A llie walks away because there is nothing else there. It just slinks away. As does the person who uses it.

because sometimes the truth hurts. lying is easier for a lot of people. just remember though, just cause it's easier, doesn't mean it's right. nobody ever wants to hurt somebody else, so they have to decide whether to tell the truth or not. plus, it might even be safer to lie. If you do lie, you can spare someone's feeligns, making you feel better. it's when that person realises that you've lied that you have a problem. you become speechless, unable to explain yourself, and all because you have to fight about whether to tell the truth or not
