If the NBA was go go agaist the WNBA who do you think would win?

my friend and i hand a debate and he thinks that men are better at sports then females i dont think its true. What do you think?

Its hard to answer this question without sounding a little sexist, but, generally speaking, on the physical skills involved in sports the curve of athletic abilities for men is a little above the curve for women. The best women will beat an above average male, but when it is best against the best, the men will win almost every time. Since someone else mentioned swimming -- compare the world record time for men and women in swimming -- the time for men is faster. In weightlifting, the record for men is higher. If you called the game completely by the rules (none of the b.s. that the NBA allows the players to get away with) it might be closer than some think just because the women are used to playing closer to the rules, but they would have to play a perfect game (think of Princeton from the late 80s) to have any chance.

If you take the best WNBA team (Detroit Shock) and put them against the worst NBA team (Boston Celtics), the Shock would win. But overall, if you take any NBA team and put them against any WNBA team, the NBA team would win. Not just on terms of strength, speed, and durability, but because if you look today, more people (women too) go to NBA games than WNBA games. And the fact that a woman can secure a $1 million contract? Well, the chances of that happening are just as good as a woman becoming the President of the United States of America! It could happen someday, but not today! I'm not being a sexist in any way, shape, or form, but that's just how it is!

That competition will probably never happen because of one thing and it is "sexual harassment". Even if there are no hand checking on the NBA, there is still body to body contact, right?

What would happen if the men will defend the women with their body pressed against the backs of the women or vice versa, do you think the women will like it? No way! Or during a rebouding battle where there are a lot of jockeying for position so much so that the elbows of men will end up on the breast of women. Would that be fun for women? Heck No!

I think this match up will never happen unless you have women who would not mind the "physicality" of the game but I don't think there are WNBA players who are like that. I think the WNBA players are class act and very decent.

I wouldn't say "men are better than women at sports", we can't be so general. But in the specific case of a kind of real Space Jam hahaha, talkin' about NBA vs WNBA, it's almost sure NBA would win. You know, the NBA guys are taller and stronger than the girls from WNBA. It's just like the matter of weights in box.

But if you have a men team and a women team about the same weights and heights ...that would be a cool game.

to be honest i dotn think u can compare the two. they both have different set of rules. so i believe it depend on if u use the nba rules the nba would win if u use the wnba rules the women would win. it just like say any nba team can beat any team in the world and that jsut bs, it all depends on the rule just look wat happen last summer, but if we were to use the nba rules i beleive that usa would ahve come back with gold.

secondly to who ever said that ppl dotn watch women game is a ******* fool. but the reason women sport is big is caus to be straigh and honest it just new look how long we have had the nba nfl mlb. the other reason is that the way the women play isnt excited to watch as the men. and the nba ggive the nba more limeligth than the wnba. how many time u seem a wnba player on tv. how many time a nba, even the media look at espn or ure local tv how many time they have wnba player been interview or their score. it jsut like the nba wat player r more know in the nba for the class of 2003 wade james and melo wat happen to bosh or who more know in the nba kobe or tmac. whoget more limeligth.

There's a reason women have their own league. I agree with the person that said ask any WNBA player and they'd tell you without a doubt they would be destroyed.

I don't think it's even a matter of debate. Ask any honest WNBA player, they'd admit that an all-star WNBA team would lose to the worst NBA team.

It's not a matter of sexism; it's a matter of, well, biology. Men (at least, in the NBA level) are more athletically inclined than women. This is why NCAA Women's Basketball teams employ men as practice squads against their women's teams.

Sorry to say but there are quite a few boys high school teams that would be the best of the WNBA. Call me sexist but its just the truth. When Portland had a team some of alums from Lewis and Clark college would scrimmage against them (Lewis and Clark is an NAIA school) and they would destroy them. Men are just stronger and faster. Any state champion high school team would be a well coached team and now a days at least half the guys on any good high school team can dunk as well.

Generally speaking, men are physically superior to women in terms of strength, speed, hand-eye coordination, agility, etc. Just look at the Olympics -- the men are always lifting more, finishing races in less time, you get the idea. Now think about that when you're taking a group of men who are supposed to be the best of the best and putting them up against a group of women who are supposed to be the best of the best. The men will win every time. Now, if you were to take a WNBA team and put them up against a men's college team, THAT would be a lot tougher to call...

Are you kidding? The NBA would destroy the women. Don't get me wrong they are great athletes, but if they could out play the men in the NBA, the WNBA would be bigger. The height and size are big disadvantages. There's about 3 women in the WNBA who can dunk. Just about every guy in the NBA can. It wouldn't even be close.
