It depends on the country they come from or if they are from a tribe in Africa call them by the tribe ...this is only an issue in America because most blacks here are descendants of slaves

If you know their nationality or ethnic group then that's what you should use. And you're right about one thing - Africans can get extremely offfended when they're lumped in with African-Americans.

Why can't you just say black? It's like trying to say a white person is polish or german, an asian person is chinese or korean. There's nothing wrong with saying that the person is black, white, asian, blue or orange.
