Even before the midterm election, when the Republicans controlled all the branches of government, they came across as being angry and bitter at something. I never could understand what. Is there such a thing as "sore winners"? And it continues today. I'm hoping someone can explain this to me.

mbush40: When your party was running the country, there was no need to teach anyone else anything. Right? And surely you understand that liberals feel they are trying to teach YOU kindergarten subjects?

Yes I can.

It comes from propoganda techniques, such as Ellul's and others. The main concept, is that to really galvanize people, you have to keep them thinking and feeling like they are constantly under attack, under-represented, unheard, and trampled on by the majority.

Because, if you allow them to think for a minute that they are the majority, they will immediately become complascent, and the other side (of whatever the national dialogue happens to be) will quickly be able to take over.

So what you have to do is constantly make them feel like they are oppressed. You release false studies suggesting that they are under-represented in the media (when they are totally over represented), you build up the idea that the other side is the majority and is constantly attacking you, belittling you, and trying to destroy your way of life. To really work, they have to be in constant fear that they actually could lose their homes, children, spouses, and standards of living, if those blasphemous others rise to power.

And thus, they constantly feel like they are under attack, under-represented and whatnot, even when they are in power.

It is simply a matter of masterful and devious psychological and propoganda techniques.

It's all part of the party mindset - the term "conservative" alone means "reluctance to change"; now, if you subscribed to such a horrible belief, you would be angry and bitter, too, even when your team was able to steal not one but two federal elections and rule this country not unlike Joe Stalin ruled Russia. Look at the heroes of the GOP - Tom Delay, Dick Cheney, Ann Coulter etc. Just the most unhappy, unfriendly, uptight people you have ever seen.

why do you think there is no such thing as a Republican comedian?

When you have a dingbat like Bush as the leading Republican, that's reason enough to angry and bitter - isn't there a Republican who could beat Hillary Clinton?
Bush couldn't beat a dusty rug if he had printed directions.
I expect Bush to start drooling and frothing at the mouth anytime now.
Hillary had to shop around to find a state with a district that would vote for her, ending up in New York. Now she's looking to take her carpetbag back to Washington with her silly-looking philandering husband dogging her heels.

"I'm so tired of the partisan bickering and logjams"

Look familiar? I know you were talking about Congress when you made that statement but Congress isn't the only group of people acting like spoiled brats at times.

I get tired of the same behavior here.

I am Conservative. You obviously are not. I can respect that. I am neither angry or bitter.

Phrasing questions like you have here only contributes to the "logjam".

Yes we were angry that even though the republican party was in control of the branches of government there was little being done to advance the Conservative agenda

Haha yup they are sore losers...I mean c'mon, If i was a republican I'd be angry and bitter all the time too...Look at who they are supporting. Look at what a mess Bush has got our country into.
He's acting like he's the policeman of the world...he's not. He needs to stick to being president of the UNITED STATES (sadly.).
And not president of Iraq.
Not to mention he's in billions of dollars of debt. And still pushing for the war? It's getting to the point where he is going to be impeached.

Looking at the questions that have been posted on this board recently, I don't think you have to worry about the Republicans. It appears that the Dem's have won control of anger and bitterness, as well as both houses of congress.

You would be bitter to if you had to daily try and support a leader who does not even support you. One who has his own agenda and it does not include asking his party cohorts.

I'm ashamed he is the president of this great country.

Gee, that sounds like an Angry and Bitter question.

The only reason to ask it is to upset someone else.

Does that make you an Angry and Bitter person?
