I think it will be good. The way the league is set up now gives the east teams a massive advantage because the short travel distances. An example is the Minnesota Wilds division they have to travel to Van, Edmonton and Calgary with the only kind of close place is Colorado.

Why add a Division? What is so bad about THREE Divisions? Although I also don't see Houston getting the Pens IF they move. I think 3 Divisions is fine. Why add another Division winner to weight down the top of the Standings and seeding come playoff time. Bad enough the Southeast keeps doing that.
Oh and the West COULD be realigned to make a little more sense. It isn't the East's fault that their teams aren't all spread out and were aligned properly.

Dont like it. Its to much. Just have an East and a west. Top 16 teams in the league make it to the play offs. This will allow for rivals meeting in the finals. ie Toronto vs. montreal or Calgary vs. Edmonton. Also allows the opportunity for the 2 top teams in the legue to play in the finals.

I'm not sure what it is your scheme accomplishes. For starters, you've added 2 teams, 30 is too many already. More important than saying teams belong to divisions would be your structure of what teams get into the playoffs, what finishing in first means, and how many times each team plays each other team, you left all that out. Also, under your system Buffalo and Colorado would get pretty "nailed" with having to cross through customs so much.

It's all bad.

First off, Pittsburgh isn't moving to Houston. IF they move it will be to Kansas City.

Second, eight divisions is just adding to the problem.

Finally, it should be a two division conference system. The best division teams get 1st and 2nd seed while the rest fight for 3-8

One problem, the franchise in Pittsburgh, if it relocates isn't moving to Houston. They are moving to Kansas City, so having them in the Southwest doesn't really make sense. That team should be in the Central Division with St. Louis and Chicago. Better give that another try!
