Settled absolutes would be nice, but disputed absolutes have killed millions.

I don't agree with him anything like totally
(he wouldn't have expected me to)
but Charles Fort had some civilized beliefs:

"I conceive of nothing, in religion, science or philosophy that is more than the proper thing to wear, for a while."

You have to believe things, provisionally, to get through the day's decisions but any belief can in principle require revising or discarding.
You go with what you know, check what you know, and try to know more.

What you think of others is really what you think of yourself.

Once people accept the truth of this, rather than think badly of others, they would be inspired to find their own bad behaviour and change it. Then we would have world peace because everyone would recognise that what they despise in the world and others is really what they despise in themselves and just don't see.
