And why didn't we just stick with the Mayan calendar? They didn't have to change things twice a year and add an extra day every four years

We may be faced with a coming catastrophe with global warming because of burning too many fossil fuels.

Our government decided to take action!! They extended daylight savings time spring and fall since it saves a little electricity to have it stay light later in the evening. This way no one can say they did nothing.

As for a calendar adding an extra day every four years, this is necessary because a year (one trip around the sun) is slightly longer than 365 days.

Cause whoever thought of "daylight savings" probably worked for the gas or electric company and thought it would be a good idea to have the sun set early in the winter so you have to spend more money heating & lighting your house when it gets dark at 5 since it costs more to do these things in the winter. Whoever it was is rollin in the dough now.

This incredably dumb idea came straight from the White House. I can't understand how making everyone set their clocks twice in the spring and all the digital equipment in homes, but the heaviest impact will be large business, computer., etc., let alone the impact on Airports throughout the nation.
Just plain stupid.

Nicole, sweetie, the reason is that your congress persons think that by changing the clock around that they will CREATE more daylight. Silly notion, right? Here's the shocker, Hon: You are probably smarter than most congress people!

The energy department did an estimate that thousands of barrels of oil would be saved by moving it up to March 11.

Maybe its a pretty good idea to save lots of fuel.
