sure as heck doesnt matter. the most important thing though, is to put the mayonaise on the top of teh sandwich and not on the bottom. subway makes their sandwiches upside down. they ddint use to.

Diagonally, if I don't cut them diagonally then I do a horizontal fold over, but never cut them horizontally.

I used to cut them diagonally, but theyve been cutting mine horizontally at the restaurant lately, and I like it much better.*

I would say it it's like a square sandwich, then cut diagonally. It it's a long sandwich like a submarine or a hoagie, I would cut or across the middle.

I don't think the cut defines the sandwich..hehe..Personally I don't bother cutting my sandwiches. My grandma used to cut my sandwiches horizontally both ways so there were 4 little triangles. I like that cause it maks it easier to avoid the crust than if it was only cut once.

Kids seem to like diagonally as they get less crust when biting into. Also if you are making sandwich for kids use a cookie cutter to make sandwich shapes for a treat. They love it.

When teaching your children about shapes the cut is very important. It can be a fun way to teach them squares, triangles, etc. Personally, I prefer "sticks" 4 slices horizontally for my little ones and I don't cut my own!

The cut is very important. The thought is making me hungry at the moment.
