I mean, they're the ones who are so pumped up about it and accusing all of those who are against it of being cowards and hating America. So why shouldn't they put their lives on the line for "freedom"?

I'm not sure, but I think we have some hicks here. Mr. Methane certainly is one. And no, I wouldn't flee to Canada were there a draft. I just wouldn't go. Sorry. Don't feel like dying for something that I WILL NEVER care about. I like our country and my life too much.

They are. Those enlisting after 9-11 and now are overwhelmingly conservative and support the mission in Iraq and Afganistan. It is only little liberal mommas boys like you who are staying home hiding behind their mommys skirts that will not enlist. If there was a draft I am sure you would be posting your question from Yahoo Answers Canada.

I am a Viet Nam combat veteran. As those who came before me, those that are fighting now and those that will come after me understand that Freedom is not free. There is a misconception that America lost the Viet Nam war. U.S. troops did not lose one battle there. It was lost by the Democratic Congress that refused to fund the troops at that time. That action led to millions of innocents deaths in Cambodia and in Viet Nam. We are faced with the same situation now. It is sad that the news media does not report fairly the good that our fighting men have done. They have a bias. I believe that if we do not fight the terrorist there the fight here will become an open battle on our streets. It is your choice to mock the word "freedom" in your question. Many made the sacrifice throughout our history to give you that right. The Armed forces are all volunteer, so to answer your question, " why shouldn't they put their lives on the line for "freedom" They are. Maybe they know how fragile and precious it is and believe that it should be shared and it is worth fighting for. They have different values than you and it is your right to entertain your values that they feel is important to fight for. By the tenor of your question I would say someone has struck a nerve with you.

Thats a noteworthy attempt on your area, yet to affix that is as a lot as each and each human being in what they opt for in existence. the single solid element about American is that we each and each have the right to make certain or no longer to affix the protection force. We wrestle for them to have the liberty to do it or no longer and help the forces as they see extra healthful. often times that is via putting a sticky label on their bumper or getting an education and helping it contained in the corporate they're in that makes protection force aspects or uniforms. it isn't your duty to communicate them into growing a member of yet like I suggested your efforts are widespread. One piece of guidance that isn't any longer presented, is are you contained in the provider? If no longer then why are you attempting once you wont connect? one element I easily have considered is why might want to some different person do something if the single it truly is attempting to persuade them wont do it both. there are a great number of people that are growing a member of the protection force and that i’m certain at cases the protection force turns people faraway from serving from one reason to a unique. both they have medical problem of alternative complications that does no longer cause them to a fantastic asset to the protection force. no longer all of us needs to affix the protection force or they're reduce out for that existence. people opt for to help the troops in what ever way they could, we each and each do it in countless approaches, from starting to be/generating nutrition, clothing, providing medical needs for our veterans and present day squaddies. We gained't see how they serve, yet might want to no criticize those that help one way or the different. I easily were serving for over 24 yrs contained in the USAF and that i take excitement in it when I get someone say "thanks for serving" . carry in there and dont get too dissatisfied even as some aren’t prepared to affix the protection force. :)

BREAKING NEWS: They Do! The military is overwhelmingly conservative and support the war. It is only about 7% Liberal. Why don't they ever actually put their lives on the line for those freedoms?
It seems to me that that your question is very uninformed and highlights the hypocrisy of being a liberal. They sure do an awful lot of complaining considering how little heavy lifting they do.

Yes, I do. And I think they and their parents should be fighting every day to get the VA properly funded so that returning service people can get decent health care without wading through six feet of red tape. But instead they help the troops by putting little yellow magnets on their cars.

I joined the Army in 2000 and had no problem staying in after September 11th because I support the war.

You are correct! This is why I just signed up for airborne infantry. This is also why more than 70% of the armed services are Republicans and 4% are liberals. Hope that answers your question.
If you hate America so much and want to protest against it, why don't you go sign up for the jihadists? Im sure theyr recruiting although you dont get as muhc money for college :-( Sad face.

Absolutely, particularly in light of the macho posturing that runs rampant here on Yahoo and elsewhere. (Anyone not in favor of the war is dismissed as a "hippie", a "bleeding heart liberal", a "coward", a "traitor", a "wimp", a "girlie man"... I could go on but that's a small sample of their collective attempt to understand opposing points of view without resorting to caricatures and ad hominem attacks. It's baffling to me that they support the war enough to advocate extending it indefinitely, but not enough to enlist themselves. I'd love to hear their rationale for this but I haven't yet.
P.S. Evidently we're to believe that the overwhelming majority of those who support the war and summarily dismiss those of us who don't are either in Iraq now, or just got back from there...

Actually I would prefer that the draft was still in effect, so that morons like you could do their duty and do some time in the military.
You might even get some education and discipline.
