Lump in my tongue?

I've had my tongue pierced for almost a year now and a couple days ago I took out my tongue ring (I have to for work), and noticed there is a lump where it's pierced. I never noticed it before when I took out my bar. I can squeeze it and it doesn't hurt. Is this just scar tissue that is just now showing up, or what?

Yes, it's scar tissue.
