I have tried using a jigsaw with Bosch blade T101BR (supposedly optimal for PVC), but the pipe snaps off unevenly about halfway through the cut.

This is for an outdoor furniture project so I don't want any sharp edges on the pipes. Any tips for smooth cutting would be appreciated.

go to your local hardware store and purchase a ratcheting pvc cutter if you are just cutting to length. Ensure the PVC is not cold as it becomes brittle.

If you are using 3/4 inch plastic pipe, for example, insert a 3/4 inch wood dowel into the pipe and then use an ordinary pipe cutter on it. That will leave a clean neat cut inside and out. For larger pipes use a larger wood dowel or turning off your wood lathe.

Purchase a PVC pipe cutter ratchet tool at your hardware store. Similar to scissors for PVC, the tool cost around $10 and is slick.

There are cutters specifically for PVC pipe -- available at Lowes, home Depot, and other hardware stores.

You could also use a metal pipe cutter (also from Lowes, etc.).

Both kinds leave "perfect" edges.

Do what i did, i was putting together a central vac system in my house and wanted perfect 90 degrees cut, i went ahead and put masking tape around the part i want to cut so it won't splinter or snap, then i went ahead and cut it with my miter compound saw, with a multi-purpose blade which is able to cut thru alumimum, plastic, and wood, leaves perfect and clean cuts.

You need a pipe cutter like this:

It will leave a very clean cut.
