Applying stucco is a very long tedious process for someone who has never done it before. It approaches artwork when you reach the color or stucco coat (final coat) especially if you are going for a smooth finish and can be very prone to cracking depending on a number of factors. There are many less labor and cost intensive alternatives to accomplishing a stucco-like finish that you can easily tackle yourself. Do an online search for "eifs stucco" and you will get more info than you probably wanted.

It is all the same product. The Scratch Coat is the first coat, 3/8" thick with horizontal scratches in it to help bond the Brown Coat. The Brown Coat is the second coat, 3/8" thick. This is applied smoothly. The final coat will fill any voids or imperfections and should only be 1/8" thick. This coat will give you what ever texture you want.
