Probably forcing all sides to abide by Un resolution 242.
As of now, only Jordan and Egypt have fully abided by UN 242.
Syria, Iraq,Israel, Palestinians, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Lebanon have all failed to abide by UN Resolution 242.
UN Resolution 242 calls for the normalization of relations with Israel and the withdrawal to 1968 borders.
The Arab countries have not normalized relations with Israel and Israel has not withdrawn to the 1968 borders.

For BOTH sides to recognize the right of the other to exist. Until then, there can be no solution.
The current problem is no unified front for the Palestinians. Too many factions, each with their own agenda. And none of them concerned with compromise. Until the international community and the Arab community get hardline with them and force a Palestinian solution, the Israelis have no one with which to negotiate a regional solution.

What a question! Well, I'm an eternal optimist, but here, the word impossible comes to mind! I think the only solution is for both sides to acknowledge the humanity of the other group. The racism on both sides is absolutely disgusting. I know there are Palistinian/Israeli human rights groups that work together and I just read a sad and sweet story on BBC.com about a mixed couple fleeing the area because they simply aren't accepted there. But as long as there are people there who believe in the humanity of each group and believe that they can work together (and obviously there are), there is still hope.

2 states side by side. (Palestinians:Give it up-you're never getting all that land back. Not like it was your to begin with, anyway.) Put up a big fence. "Tall fences make good neighbours". Hey, Palestinians: How about starting to raise your kids by not teaching them that anything bad that happens to them is because of the Jews. That's be a good start.

All Arabs move to established Arab countries (there are 21 of them to choose from). The term "Palestinian was invented in the 1970's. They are no different from any other Arabs.

There IS no solution. Those people (and others) have been fighting over that little patch of desert for centuries. It will go on until there are no people. If there WERE no Israel, they'd STILL be arguing over who gets that land. It's what they do. Fight! They were doing it before Israel and they'll do it after.

Truck in the Sand and cover the entire region in Sand Dunes 1000 feet high, this would render the arguments pointless and the conflict could move elsewhere.
