I think people are taking your example too literally. I agree with you. I recently managed to pay down several thousand dollars of credit card debt and I feel like a tremendous weight has been lifted from my shoulders. What makes things worse for many people is the way credit card companies are sticking it to their customers every way they can.

Yes it can.
We are completely dependant on the commercial banks. Someone has to borrow every dollar we have in circulation, cash or credit. If the banks create ample synthetic money we are prosperous; if not, we starve.

hmmm interesting question.
I can see how one could become a slave to their debt, but one does not have to aquire debt. So no I don't think it can be. Slavery is not chosen debt is...Well thats my veiw...Lets
