I have a Toshiba Laptop- Satelite M35X-S161 and all of a sudden, my screen is so dark I can barely see anything? I feel like I have tried everything...help!

In this case the things that you need to try are
- Check the brightness of the LCD screen and try to increase it using the functional keys.
- Uninstall and reinstall the Display drivers.
- Update the BIOS.

If the screen is still dark connect the notebook to an external monitor and check how the display is on the monitor. This should be good after doing all the above steps. If the display is fine on the external monitor, suggested is to replace the back light/ inverter in the LCD screen.

HI

Ok , try this , on the F-numbers you know like F1 F2 F3 so on and so on , on the bottom of every F theres a symbol , now one of them should have like start ( thats the contrast) so , to acces it , pres the FN key and select that one , IF by any change DOES WORK , then im sorry to say the LCD is LONG GONEE

There could two issues with your laptop a) You might be running low on battery or your battery is not getting charge b) Might find some relief by adjusting the brightness and contrast in your laptop.

On the keyboard there should be a key resembling a sun. Tap this key while hold down the Fn key.

There is not much info that i can base my answer on but there is a thing that you can do

press the FN key at the bottom left of your keyborad and press the ARROW UP botton and then do the same for the arrow right button

Function Key (between CTRL and ALT) and F7.

That will brighten up the screen. Or check your batteries, they may be low, and the screen darkening could've been a reaction to low battery power.

if you have Windows XP on the machine, Right-click on the desktop and choose "properties". Then navigate to the "settings" tab and set everything to the highest possible. The changes won't be made until you click "OK" or "Apply".

feels like the backlighting is busted. you could order a liquid crystal exhibit alternative exhibit from amazon and replace the exhibit your self. there are various video tutorials on youtube which will show you the thank you to try this.
