1st I would never keep a closer, no matter how good they are/were there is to much of a chance for fall off. See Lidge, Gagne, Koch to name a few. So Nathan is out.
Thome/Rolen have age injuries working against them so they are out.
So we are down to the youngs, Big Z, Peavy, Verlander.
I would only keep 1 pitcher therefore M Young may be the best bet also a hard position to fill with quality SS.
I would NOT keep Zito despite the big contract his ERA/WHIP trends in the last few years scares me.
So its a coin flip. Take Jake who is proven and hope to redraft a Verlander type or take a flyer on the young kid. I would go Jake.
Side note I would look to offload Vlad soon, his age is starting to effect his speed a little and is no longer the 5 category god he was.

Since you are for sure keeping the two hitters, I would try to hold on to a couple pitchers, with Zito being a for sure one. I won my league last year because I dominated pitching. As far as the second pitcher, I think Peavy would be the safest bet. Verlander is too young to determine whether last year was a sign of things to come, or just a good year. Nathan may struggle as Minnesota may not be as good this year. I am assuming you meant Michael, not Delmon Young. Delmon has not proven anything. The White Sox are probably going to hit well this year, and Jim Thome will be a big part of that, but a DH is not going to play when interleague play comes around. Stick with pitching for your last two.

Michael Young and Peavy. Great SS are few and far between and Young is good for nearly all versions of fantasy- whether rotisserie or scoring.
Peavy wins games, gets K's and plays in a great ballpark.
Thome and rolen are older and injury prone. Nathan is good, but a good closer is easy to find. Zito is maybe a better pitcher than Peavy but not for fantasy. Verlander is interesting, and a gut call, but I'd take Peavy

Jim Thome- Old
Scott Rolen- Injuries
Zito- no longer a number one strarter
Nathan- dont keep a closer, new ones always emerge
Peavy and Verlander are pretty even, but Peavy pitches in the national league.
M Young is good, young, SS, Plays in a great hitters park
Easy Micheal Young and Jake Peavy

Keep Thome and Michael Young. By filling your power early and having one of the top SS you can focus your draft on pitching and speed. A luxury that the other teams in your draft will not have. How many teams in your league would pass on 25HR's to take Peavy in the first round? Or Nathan? You should take a look at the other teams and guess who they are going to keep and if they did who they would have to draft first. Do a mock draft.
By keeping those hitting postions, which are typically first and second round picks, you can afford to get players before other teams can. In keepers you almost always keep players that go early in drafts but you should never keep someone like Delmon who is a "Potential" player, keep sure things and draft potential.

I'd take Zito and Nathan. I kept Nathan in my league so I watch him regularly and there are few better pitchers if we also include SP. I think Zito is the better option for the second pick because not only is he super but he's switching league this year. Most NL guys haven't scene much of him so he'll have a big advantage there. He and Peavy are in pitcher friendly parks but with the change in location for Zito, I think its an easy choice for me.

When it comes to keeper league, I tend to favor the youth over veterans. Not that I'm hating to keep veterans, but they seem to break down at some point in their career, which is dangerous for keeper leagues, espeically younger one also. That's why my choice would be Delmont Young and Justin Verlander and here's why:
-Young learn his lesson after serving a 50 game suspension for a bat throwing incident in the minors and although he doesn't display power yet, he can still blossom as a legitimate threat on the field and possibly be the best rookie since King Albert (I know it's far fetch but he has potential).
-Verlander is still young and has a lot more innings to pitch in his career, but the breakdown has to be worriesome, but I still choose him over Zito (an expensive version of Derek Lowe) and Joe Nathan (who I still respect but I worry about his age and his long-term commitment, albeit he manage to stay healthy for a while).

I would go with Delmon Young and Nathan. I think Nathan would go before any of those players in a redraft league. Delmon Young might not but he has a chance to be something special for years to come if his head is right.
