Conservative leaders say climate change is a theory, so it is not real. What an intelligent point of view. When asked about what the US can do to stop climate change they call Al Gore a hypocrite. To bad their response has nothing to do with the reality of or the solution for carbon pollution. They also say that the Sun is the only cause for warming, that the Earth is too big for us to affect it, and that it is a natural cycle. If they researched this at all they would find that the atmosphere plays a huge role. They should look up the facts and see the "cycle" of C02 in our atmosphere and the correlation with global temperatures. That huge spike at the end of the C02 chart.... it doesn't take a genius to figure out that it hasn't happened before, we caused it, and what it means for worldwide temperatures. What will they have to see to understand it is real? New York City underwater? The debate on if climate change is real is over. Bush said so. Now we have to figure out a solution.

About past ice ages. Yes, of course they have happened. The reason they happened is because the Earth became too warm because of excess C02 and other heat trapping gasses in the atmosphere. I just hope that we can change to emission free electricity worldwide before we cause the next ice age to occur sooner than it would have naturally. There is a tipping point, and I don't want to reach it. I'm not a die hard liberal, so don't assume that I am. I am concerned with our ability to live on Earth and with people who try to stop us from doing this.

Don't conservatives believe the president? IF they did, like they say they do, we wouldn't be having this debate, and we could all work together to solve this problem.

Please e-mail me your facts. I am not a conservative but I believe the conservatives are kind of correct! In all reality, global warming has been happening for 18,000 years on our planet. This is not due to fossil fuels and on top of this there is nothing that the government will do efficiently to help stop this, except to send everyone into poverty! It is a pyramid scheme! I have many links here I would like for you to see to help you see where I am coming from. In all reality the theory itself that the cons don't believe in is the fact that man makes the CO2, not the theory that it doesn't exist! I just can't believe someone in government, period! Especially the politicians and scientists that are raking in big bucks off of this publicity in exchange for fear! ~ Libertarian

I think everyone is pretty unanymous that there is climate change, what conservatives are concerned with is that there are a lot of scientists who are saying that its not going to be as cataclysmic as some are predicting and that a lot of these pople (like Al Gore) are exploiting the peoples fear of climate change to get money/publicity etc, and the scientists are doing it to get funding.
A lot of scientists also believe that joining the Kyoto protocol wouldnt change much because the amount of Co2 that is man made is 5% or less.
We all know we are having a global warming trend, and that it is different than anything in recorded history. The sun is also going through a particularly war period which is why all the other planets are also expeiencing warming trends, there are no SUV's on other planets. I don't think we should ignore it but we should not make it another Y2K type hype. Remember in the 70's all the thousands of scientists said there was an ice age coming soon, now its the opposite.

Climate change is real. The debate on the cause is not over. It's been warmer than it is today, for many multi-century periods, including at least two since the last Ice Age, and there was another warm period that was pretty close to as warm as today. In none of these periods did much of the gloom and doom predicted now happen, in none of them did SUVs or power plants exist, and in all of them atmospheric CO2 levels were lower than they are today.
Many people suspect man's causal role. Nobody can prove it. The Kyoto limits would require sharp restrictions on transportation and energy - the price of power and of my commute would triple and double, respectively. You cannot impose that on people based on a hypothesis, however, logical, without proof, and still say with a straight face that we live in a free society.
It might turn out to be us. The fact of prior warm periods doesn't disprove this. It does mean that the mere rough correlation between the present warm period and the Industrial Revolution doesn't infer causation. I'll keep an open mind and not dismiss out of hand what the environmentalists say - that's a big concession given their track record for accuracy, which is, shall we say, spotty - for every acid rain there's a Monsanto butterfly.

Climate change is normal and happens whether we're here or not. Sometimes these changes are a necessary and NORMAL part of things. The fact that they seem to think we can actually stop a normal function and that somehow in doing so we will be better,is rather egocentric. Besides.....I did everything they said to do when they claimed we were going into an ice age a few decades ago and it's exactly the same things they are saying now. It didn't do anything but plunge us into this so-called global warming so I don't think they have a clue what they're talking about. It's just another new way to put restrictions and such on regular people. I have a fuel effecient car. I have a small home. I recycle. I plant trees. So I don't do anything to contribute to this. We had all sorts of laws passed for smog and emmissions and other dangers. Now the companies just move to another country to conduct their business because it's too expensive here. They know all this massive building effects a whole load of things......but they continue to make everything a massive concrete jungle. If they are worried about gas use and traffic....then why on earth did they just OK 100 Mexican trucking companies on our roads with less than safe vehicles? It's not regular people they need to be preaching to.....it's big business. Maybe it's natures way to get them to stop. Atleast nature knows what it's doing. I'm not saying it's not happening......I just don't think we can stop normal events and maybe it's what needs to be done in order to bring the earth back into balance. Everytime "man" sticks his nose into things they usually screw it up worse anyway.

The question should read "Why do feeble minded people jump on the climate bandwagon without all the facts to back them up?" We all see change. The argument is what's causing them. That is pure conjecture at this point. That is admitted even in the scientific community. But in the name of doing something, they rally around the Gore truth. I guess the feeling is it's better to do something rather than nothing even if it bankrupts us.

The climate changes all the time. The world started warming thousands of years ago to get us out of the last ice age before SUVs and capitalism were around to cause it.

Climate has and always will change. Looking at the multiple ice ages that have come and gone over the last few million years certainly seems to support that view, you think?

Why are you liberals so stupid to believe that the conservatives don't believe in climate change?
I can see the difference in climate. It's a natural occurrence just like the tropical ages are. There's nothing anyone can do about it so why keep trying?
