I am the mother of a ten year old that wanted to dress Goth.
As an ex Goth myself, my first response was "No!"
It was also my second and third response, a few weeks apart.
Then I thought about what happened when my parents told me "No" when I wanted to expres myelf through my clothing... Uhm... yeah:
I quickly started getting her nice clothes and let her wear just a little make up so she felt her style complete. I'm holding her hand on her adventure, making sure it is age aproriate, let her experience if this is what she really wants.
Cause I know not being allowed to dress the way you want can do even more damage and it will make the chances they will rebel and turn out more extreme than they would have if tehy had been supported enormous. Personal experience.

Its your own decision but personally i don't think you should. If she wants to dress like a goth at ten years old what will she not be like when shes 15 or 16? She must be trying to express herself and this is very normal. However if she feels she will get away with dressing like a goth she will rebel and the bad attitude is sure to follow. A lot of goths minge in many dangerous things.
Some things you could try: Try letting her have her own space, perhaps she feels a bit trapped at the moment or overprotected as she feels the need to rebel.
Find out who her friends are, this usually has a huge impact on the child. She may feel peer pressure or may feel like she doesn't fit in or perhaps she is mingling with the wrong people. This are all huge issues that need to be addressed. Talk to teachers at the school about her general behaviour if you are concerned this is a big help.
Talk to her, ask her why she wants to dress this way. You will grow a bond with you and trust you, don't get too angry with her.
Take her shopping, she may not like her appearance. Pick out colours and clothes that flatter her but make she can make some of her own decisions-but know when it becomes too much(bear in mind she is only 10 and needs proper guidance from you.) It will pay off in the end.
Remeber you are a good parent it will all sort itself out.Good Luck!

That is up to you.
Most people would obviously say no. Because she is a wee bit too young to know or even understand what she is doing.
In that case, wait till she is 14-16 and see if she still is interested if so, then go with her shopping, your the parent you can okay or veto anything she picks out, because hell your paying for it.
And in anycase, if you do let her dress this way now, it doesn't have to be all black and doom. Add some reds, greens, blues, grey's even white. As for jewlery, well simple chain necklaces and some errings never go wrong.
shirts free flowing sleeves, or baseball shirts (the tee over long sleeve) only buy her a fishnet shirt for under her favorite happy bunny tee. lol
I mean you can really take charge if not help her to make the "gothic" style custom made so that she feels happy, but so that you don't have to deal with peoples idiocy.
My style is more old-world and victorian. The classic dark elegant beauty. So rose errings, chain necklaces with odd stones and pendants, free flowing shirts with nice slacks, or a nice skirt with a tank top and fishnets.
People think I look elegant, not trashy. And anyways I prefer to cover my skin, not flash it. The goth clothing part is very custom tailored to every person. for what they like, and what they want.

have faith it or no longer, yet Claire's upload-ons do gothic upload-ons, like chains and black earings and rings e.t.c. Being an 8 twelve months previous goth is extremely uncommon and to a pair, it must be very unusual, so perchance you could desire to attend until she's older to bypass completely goth - if she nonetheless likes that concept. Going goth could in simple terms be a passing section for her. anticipate a on the same time as to work out if she fairly is attracted to being a goth. For now, try in simple terms some upload-ons - rings, hair clips or chains.

She's ten, so that means that she is in about fourth, fifth, maybe even sixth grade right? Well ask her if she knows what Gothic really is whether or not she wants to join the religion is a totally different matter. She's probably too young to know about the religion and thinks the typical stereotypes are correct. (A love for Satan... you've probably heard them all) Ask her what she likes about the Gothic style or culture if she doesn't really have a good reason she just probably wants to rebel, then you should let her get it out of her system it'll probably be a phase she's giong through. If she says that she loves the art and the belief of finding light in the dark then let her, she obiosly loves the religion/culture. Why don't you check out this website and see for your self what gothic really is.

Can she compromise with you and only dress like a goth some of the time? E.g. weekend but not school? Sounds like she's starting to see how far she can stretch the boundaries. You've got the hard problem of providing her boundaries whilst letting her grow her individuality.
Of course, if she dresses like a goth, she might get bored of it quick!

Yes - Goth clothes are quite often very conservative anyway, compared to a lot of the other styles of clothing. Just encourage her to stay away from the things like corsets and such until she's older and stick more with the dresses and covering tops.
As far as little groups go, goths are usually more responsible than chav types who are well known for being pregnant at 15, skater types who are usually known for smoking weed and normal types who are well known for ridiculing anything that they find unusual.

UM! NO!!! Hello? do you realize if you let her do this you will cause a lot of damage in her life, by letting her dress in such a way that is well known for worshiping the devil. Not only that, but she is just a 10 year old girl not 16, which means shes feeling a little akward in that pre pibescent stage and she doesnt know exactly how to fit in, or feel tough and in control. Teach her other ways to fit in, one that hopefully wont ruin her reputation with students, adults and teachers

Yes Everyone has the option to be a unique individual if they want to be. It will build her confidence and make her a stronger person inside. If she wants to let her, she'll grow out of it in a few years, or it might be just a phase. Besides 10 is a number NOT a LABEL.
hope it helps x

Hell yeah! If she wants to, let her. Telling her she can't will make her want to wear it more. Be grateful she isn't like me, when I was ten I wore pink all the time. But that was so nobody would guess I spent lunchtimes cutting my legs in the bathrooms. But whatever, goth is a style and a beautiful one and be grateful that she has her own mind instead of some stupid clone-sheep thing that thinks nothing more than "Wanna go to da MALL"
