Why is it that the more fashionable the clothing, the less practical it is?

Although most people look faboulous in fashionable clothing, it's a little more uncomfortable. Heels are a tough one because women love to feel a little taller, but most don't realize how bad they are for your feet... yes they can cause severe foot odor... EW!... but they also cause knee and ankle problems, not that fashionable clothing does that but it is just, yeah unpractical because of the low-comfort rating.
