Yeah...So is everyone else that didn't look up all the problems that it has...
BTW...Vista is a DOWNGRADE not an upgrade.
Here's some other problems you can look forward to...
1) Third party drivers/applications are not allowed unless “approved” by Microsoft. Some of your favorite software won't run on Vista because the drivers have not been "approved" by Microsoft. This also means that the digital camera you just bought may not be "allowed" to connect to the PC.
2) ALL media copied thru Vista is SERIOUSLY degraded. The mp3s that you rip, are not allowed to be full quality. Same with DVD's.
3) Takes up too much of the already strained resources.
Personally, if XP ever goes out of support, I'm going Linux

HI
Ok, first does the little speaker appears at the lower right hand of the screen ?? If not the open control panel , then open administrative , then open services , verify that the windows sound service is started , now IF IT WAS STARTED but NO sound still comes out , then its the driver that VISTA did not recognize and fail to load , so go to HP and verify if they have an upgrade for the sound card , if you want give the make/model of the pc and ill send you the link

Try reinstalling the drivers under the device manager.
Youll see some ? marks, and click on them.
Afterwards, click update or reinstall driver.
