I think it was written by Keith Urban. I personally think that its a slam to verbal abusers everywhere.(She never even knew she had a choice. But thats what happens when the only voice she hears is telling her she cant.)

It was one of Keith's favorite song and his wife told him he should record it. And the song was written by sarah buxton.

umm..he didn't marry nicole richie..it was nicole kidman and i believe the song was an answer to the song "stupid girl"

I think it was because he married Nicole Richie. And Nicole Richie's old husband didn't let her do anything and he abused her.
