Ok , first understand this , if you dont have an ethernet card then NO , now you can still share a folder by just right click and select sharing . Now IF YOU do have an ethernet card , then right click my network places , and select properties , then select the connection you use to connect to the internet , there you will see a windows diplaying the properties of the connection verify that you have theFILE AND PRNTER SHARING FOR MICROSOFT WINDOWS , if you dont have it or you dont have a check mark on it , then put a check mark there and reboot the pc

what the hell? variables in different places??? :-S

Right click the folder you want to share, and go to sharing and security, enable the folder for sharing, if it doesn't allow you to share it, you have the server service down ( Control panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services ) and start it, if no one can access your shared folder, try pinging it from the other machine, either way there are 2 possibilities:
-the other puter is not correctly configured to access the network
-your machine has the firewall service blocking everything, youll have to disable it temporarily OR add a rule to the specific port

of course there's always a 3rd possibility, the ip that you have and the ip the other machine that wants to access your files has, can't "see" each other, that means their on completely different ip ranges. ask your network admin about it

Cheers

Like over a network? Either way, one of the major flaws of windows is that the variables are manipulated in different places. You could change them manualy but its complicated.
