Well, it would certainly make Catholics think twice since one of their primary tenets of faith is that Jesus resurrected from the grave and ascended into Heaven. If he survived the Crucifixion and lived a normal life, the Christian faith could collapse.

If a person is strong enough in their religion, it should not make any impact on them. It is just a place, something special may have happened there, but the tomb is not Jesus, and people should not treat it as such.

BUT there are a lot of vain people in the world that are all about the show of religion, and those people will probably put a fence around it and charge admission to get in.

Don't assume that the ossury that was found was that of Jesus of the New Testament.

Many scholars, both secular and religious have come out and rejected this new find.

This same film maker a few years back also claimed to have found the bones of James the brother of Jesus. It too was eventually found to be a hoax.

There is some good info on this at Christianitytoday.com

Repercussions? Absolutely none. It's not Jesus' body. Jesus rose into heaven. His body wasn't available to stay in a tomb this long. So there is nothing to find.

As a historian and not a christian i agree with the lady before me when she said.. absolutely none. So far only cameron and an idiot sensationalist journalist from canada have claimed it to be. everyone else has come out agaisnt it.. of course .. if we put the power of holywood against the combined power off all historians, historian will loose and idiot will still make a big deal about this as they did with the Da vinci code. I think i give intersting lectures but i know i cannot compete with Cameron.. so yea.. the average person will likely believe the movie than sit thorugha history lecture...or god forbid bother to think criticaly and for himself

Not being a historian but as a Christian, I would say none. There's no way to prove that it's Christ's tomb unless there's a big note that says "Jesus was here" but I haven't heard that happening. So, till there's concrete proof, it's not Christ's tomb.

If it does infact turn out to be the tomb of Jesus, Mary Magdaline, some of the deciples, and so forth, I think it will be crippling to catholisism. It will totally disprove the "fact" that Jesus rose from the dead and His whole body ascended to heaven.

No, it's a hoax. All they found were three coffins with names on it which are "Maria" (2 times) and "Yoshua". And they are 2.000 y old. Those names were really common around that time.
There is a faint possibility that it is really Jesus tomb, but evidence is extremely weak.
