If he does, he needs to hold off on announcing. Hillary and Obama will continue to snark at one another and right around the time left leaning Americans are sick of it, Al can drop in his name.

Gore has never stated that he will not run for president in 2008, only that he does not plan to. Because he has never outright denied the possibility, rumors have been swirling. In particular, some insiders are claiming he may consider entering the race in September. This article mentions the following reasons for why Gore might run (and be successful at doing so) after all:
He has name recognition and an established financial network
He stood against the Iraq war from the beginning
Oscar and Nobel Prize Nominations
Upcoming Congressional testimony on Global Warming
Stay out of fighting between the other democratic primary candidates by entering in September
I, personally, would be excited to see Gore run for the presidency, much due to his environmental stance. But, as we know, the election cycle is long and lots of things can change…

There is no love lost between Al Gore and the Clintons. Bill clinton despises Gore for shutting him out of the campaign trail back in 2000. Furthermore, it is known fact that Al Gore always felt like he was in a power struggle for influence with Hillary when he was the VP. He felt as if Hillary had more say than him on policy. So I don't think Al Gore would do anything to help Hillary out. If he enters the race, he is in it to win it. That said, I don't think he will. I think that he feels he has found a niche with this whole global warming thing, and can be more influential if he was not president. If he was to win the presidency, obviously his intention would have to be spread out amongst many policies. Also, he can't risk losing all the power he has slowly accumulated over the last eight years if he loses in a primary.

Just to clear something up, it is NOT easy to get nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. That is a myth. Here are the facts:
Nomination to the Nobel Peace Prize is by invitation only. The Nobel Committee sends confidential forms to persons who are competent and qualified to nominate. The names of the nominees and other information about the nominations cannot be revealed until 50 years later.
Qualified Nominators – The Nobel Peace Prize
The right to submit proposals for the Nobel Peace Prize, based on the principle of competence and universality, shall by statute be enjoyed by:
1. Members of national assemblies and governments of states;
2. Members of international courts;
3. University rectors; professors of social sciences, history, philosophy, law and theology; directors of peace research institutes and foreign policy institutes;
4. Persons who have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize;
5. Board members of organizations who have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize;
6. Active and former members of the Norwegian Nobel Committee; (proposals by members of the Committee to be submitted no later than at the first meeting of the Committee after February 1) and
7. Former advisers appointed by the Norwegian Nobel Institute.

I heard conflicting reports on whether he'll run. Some say he made it clear he won't and others say since he joked about it at the Oscars, then maybe he will. I love him and kinda wish he would run, but as it is I'm torn b/w Hillary and Obama and can't take any more choices!
I don't think he'll enter to help Hillary either

He's got such a giant ego he probably will. He probably thinks that now that he's got a Oscar everyone loves and believes him, even though he's a hypocrite.
Gore is probably proud of his Nobel Peace Prize nomination too. Did you know it isn't hard to get a nomination? If you know someone, they can nominate you. One of our local talk show guys, while he's fun on the radio & he's not what yoy would call Nobel Peace Prize material - he was nominated by an "annonomous" politition.
Candidate Gore - Yawn! He doesn't have a snowballs chance in Hawaii.

Gore has said that the current process for electing a President is "toxic" and that he realizes it is not a process that he is well suited for.
That is too bad, because I know he would be a GREAT President.
But the media is so right wing these days, it is tough for ANY Democrat to win.
I do not think Al Gore will choose to run again, unless there is a complete meltdown with the current choices and he sees himself as the only hope for a Democratic victory.

But isn't it too late for him to do so? Then he should have done it earlier. But I agree with when you said he will beat Obama. See, Gore has lot of credibility now due to the Global Warming thing and I think he will be a good president. But he had his chance in 2000 and that's it.

I don't think he will throw his hat to the elections, considering that he is more inclined to educate the world towards the real threat and that is climate change on a global scale. Perhaps he may think of it, but basing on how he lost the last elections, am sure he would think a thousand times before going through the same process again.

I hope he doesn't enter the race to help Hillary out. I would rather have Obama any day. We know what we have with Hillary, and that is more of the same. Obama brings a fresh approcah and wants to unify our country. I for one, am going to fight with all I have to get Obama past Hillary.
