I know crime decreased, but attributing that to gun ownership is a bit of a stretch, even for the NRA.

Hey you wanted a link I gave it to you. Consider this, if in your neighborhood about 75% of the people owned guns and this is well known. Do you think criminals are more likely to break into your home? Probably not, so you can attribute gun ownership to lower crime rates. If thugs know people are armed they are less likely to target them, for fear of loss of life.
