I understand the FBI to be a question of delivery efficiency. By using existing charitable groups infrastructure, we can meet a public need more efficiently.

People question whether this is funding evangelism. I am sure there is some of that.

Another question to be asked is why my tax dollars are being used to funds projects already served by charities.

I choose to give to charities. I am forced to pay added taxes.

Did anyone ever wonder who helped the homeless and the alcoholics and the drug addicts before there was welfare and government programs?

The answer, religious based organizations like Church's, the Salvation Army, the Mount Carmel Guild etc. They do it because they believe in helping their fellow man. The used money that people donated and did a lot of good.

These groups tend to get much more aid to where it is really needed than a grossly bloated bureaucracy. The faith based initiate recognizes this.

You do not understand what is done under the Faith Based Initiative. This idea allows funding of social service groups that happen to be affiliated with a religious institution (the Salvation Army would be a perfect example). Another example, say First Street Christian Church in Smalltown, USA wants to start a food shelf to help the needy in their community. Their small church does not have the revenue to start such a massive project, so they get federal funding to help them provide food to those in need in their community. As long as the money is going to community service activities, and not to preaching or other religious activities, I have no problem with this initiative. It is a good way to get groups and organizations within a community to help those who need help at the local level.

Socialism and welfare basically come about for a mass of people who are lower that the standard human, like say a liberal. They b*tch and moan about everything while doing nothing. Faith on the other hand is based on morales which is the foundation for all basic laws in society. Basically, do you support laws and the enforcement of them to help promote a society that is stable and just or do you support lazy people who don't want to work and just want hand outs.

sigh....the faith based initiative is to help support those that are in the middle of the disaster help those in need first, giving the government agencies time to react. Many churches came to the rescue first to help during Katrina and the disaster was so large that it put a major strain on the organizations. This helps them. The faith based initiative can be Jewish, Christian, or even Muslim, it doesn't matter. So your socialist argument is a little flawed.

Sorry, there's no comparison!

Spending money on churches, allowing tax free money on churches is very different that Joe Blow picking out ABC group that only benefits a small group that doesn't benefits anybody else.

The socialists in Congress look out for their own butts. Churches do good in the community.

Silly you......dont you realize the welfare tends to go towards minority families......

Faith based initiatives, while they may get some monies to minority groups.....at least the money will help to civilize them........so it is ok then....

(Please note intense sarcasm!)

You can't. Taking money from taxpayers and redistributing it to others is called stealing, unless the taxpayers approve of it by vote.
